The cold Chicago winters proved to be too much and in May of 1994 Jeffrey moves to
Texas.

For the next 6 years Jeffrey traveled a 7 state area as an independent manufacturers
representative for various companies such as Phillips & King International, Savinelli, and
Caribe Imported Cigars just to name of few. During his sales calls Jeffrey was asked
about various products that were not available from his partner companies. Over time
Jeffrey started to look for the products on his own to fill his customers needs. As luck
would have it one item became two and two became 4 and before you knew it in 1998
Mitchell Thomas Trading Co. was officially founded.

Also that year Laurie began to work with Jeffrey and over the next few years most all
represented lines were dropped and full focus was placed on the growth of Mitchell
Thomas Trading. In 2000 we exhibited at our first national trade show in Las Vegas
followed by our first RTDA show in San Antonio. Business grew bit by bit and in May 2002
we moved from our garage to a 4000 sq' building in Addison Texas and 3 1/2 years after
that we moved to our current home of 10,000 sq' in Carrollton Texas.

Many people ask about the name Mitchell Thomas and where did it come from or who he
is. After reading our story the Mitchell name should be obvious, but the Thomas name will
still be a question. Laurie’s father is Thomas L. Jones and past away prior to our meeting
in 1991. When thinking of a name for our family owned business we wanted to honor the
memory of these two individuals. We hope that our story tells of the commitments made to
establish our company and provides a brief look at the personal service and years of
knowledge we try to offer.
